The Engagement

Zespri’s Executive Leadership Group flew into Singapore for a week of strategic meetings and commissioned a half-day leadership development session within that week. The brief ruled out any pre-work, so profiling tools such as CliftonStrengths could not be used. Victor proposed an embodied leadership session instead and was commissioned to design and deliver it.

The Brief

The session had three objectives:

  • Clear leadership distinctions. Leaders needed to leave with clear distinctions they could apply immediately to the week’s strategic discussions and to their ongoing leadership work.

  • Deeper connection. The session needed to strengthen relationships across a team that rarely meets in person, doubling as team building.

  • High energy. Many leaders had just flown in and were managing fatigue and jet lag, so the session had to be active and engaging throughout.

The Approach

Embodied leadership starts from a simple premise: a leader’s body takes a stance before they speak, and that stance shapes how stakeholders experience them. The session connected body intelligence directly to leadership conversations and stakeholder engagement.

Victor led the session, supported by coaches Pearl Tong and Mandy Lin, through four interactive activities, each illustrating one of four body dispositions and the leadership contexts that call for it. Leaders were coached to notice how easily they could access each disposition. Structured reflection and discussion followed every activity. By the end, each leader could name which disposition came most naturally and which required conscious, deliberate effort.

The session closed with three steps:

  1. A collective view. The room looked at the group’s combined pattern across the four dispositions.

  2. Peer feedback. Each leader received feedback from colleagues on how they have shown up in the past, facilitated in a safe and structured way.

  3. Application. Leaders identified how to turn their insights into action during the strategy week and beyond.

Outcomes

Leaders left with greater embodied self-awareness, a clear picture of their own range across the four dispositions, and stronger connections with colleagues. The energy stayed high throughout the session.
