The session used Gallup's CliftonStrengths profiling tool alongside ontological coaching to help leaders identify their dominant talent themes and explore how to apply them in their business strategies. Participants left with deeper self-awareness and a shared strengths language to strengthen team collaboration. What happens when a team of senior leaders come together with their next gen leaders to talk about strengths?

It was a fantastic morning spent with a group of leaders. We examine

  1. Individual profiles

  2. Collective strengths for the current Senior Leadership Team as well as the Future Next Gen Leadership Team.

My favourite portion and where I derive the most joy was to do the individual and team analysis of the strengths and how these strengths can be leveraged for specific parts of leading the business.

Strengths-Based Selling - Great Eastern Financial Advisors

Victor Seet Gallup Gold CliftonStrengths coach doing keynote in Sales Seminar to financial advisors Singapore

"This Sales Seminar was conducted for a group of 80 financial advisors from Great Eastern in Singapore. The session used a strengths profiling tool to help the financial advisors identify their dominant talent themes and explore how to apply them to sales and advisory work in their day-to-day roles. Participants left with deeper self-awareness and specific personalized strategies of how to use their strengths for sales. Explore with Victor in Strengths-Based Selling.

👉 Did I hit my numbers?

For many Sales Professionals, this is often Top of the mind concern.

Performance measurement isn’t complicated. The scoreboard or sales result is always visible. 📈

✅Most who chose sales for a living are already self-motivated. The systems reward results. The incentives are clear.

But not everyone gets the outcomes they want. ❌ That was my personal lived experience too.

🔆 One of my biggest breakthroughs comes from learning and understanding HOW I SELL.

- What is it about the way I naturally build trust?
- What kind of conversations flow easily for me and what do I stumble in?
- What do I do almost effortlessly that others might struggle with?

That self-knowledge changed everything.

And that was what I hoped would land with the group of financial advisors I was speaking to.

Over 70 FAs from Great Eastern.
A wide range of ages and experience.

Many had already completed their strengths assessment. But the unspoken question in the room was clear:

🆗 “SO WHAT?”

So what if I have these identified talents?
What does this mean for client development work or pitching or when I am building my sales pipeline?

When an FA sees:
☑️Why certain conversations feel easy or draining
☑️Why they are so energised at specific stages of the sales process and stuck at others
☑️Why they succeed consistently with certain client profiles but not others

✅When an insight connects, the person shifts. Clarity lifts up the veil 💯

Strengths, on its own, is not insight.

🔅Insight only happens when people can connect it to Real Selling Moments. 🎯

When we understand how our strengths actually help us REPEAT our strong performances, the process becomes sustainable and feels lighter.

That’s the real power of strengths for a FA or any sales person.

I love #strengthsbasedselling

Tried something new when the stakes are real?

Not for fun. But as a way of experimenting and performing even when tried and tested methods are available.

Some do that out of necessity.
Others do that to engage their strengths.

I belong to the latter.

My #Activator says “Learning comes through doing.”

Recently, during a #CliftonStrengths #teambuilding workshop with a group from MTI, I executed a newly designed activity to help participants deepen ownership of their talents. It was untested. It was the first time this activity was run, in a live setting, with real expectations.

My #Activator was alive.
My #Ideation was fully engaged.
My #SelfAssurance says “Go for it!”
And my #Achiever was delighted when the room responded and the outcomes landed.

Not every experiment will be successful.
But each one strengthens our capacity to act with intention, even without certainty.

A small victory.
But success builds momentum.
And momentum propels me forward.

Being an Activator

It’s been 2 weeks since the completion of the 3 days strengths coaching certification course. I have had time to debrief myself and to reflect on the experience.

When the idea was first mooted, my Activator came alive. I saw all the possibilities. I could imagine what Yeang Cherng and I could bring to the table with our combined experiences, knowledge and skills.

I imagined that the course will have a very different experience from the typical strengths workshop. I imagined that the opportunity will give us greater autonomy and space to integrate the ontological and strengths lens into the program design.

Using Systems thinking as the backdrop, and wearing the ontological lens as coaches, we adopted a different approach and structure in the 3 days course.

For me, it was 3 full days filled with personal stories and coaching conversations - battle scars of leadership, fears and frustrations of team management, student management, parenting. The authenticity from different individuals created a safe space to learn.

Could the course be improved? Definitely!

Was it a success? Definitely!

How much did starting this coaching program energize the Activator? 100/10

Looking forward to continue this in 2026 and creating version 2.0
