CliftonStrengths Coaching Skills Workshop - AIA Managers

Victor Seet facilitating CliftonStrengths coaching session for AIA managers on strengths-based coaching tools in Singapore

This CliftonStrengths coaching skills workshop for Managers was conducted for a group of 20 AIA Managers, held in Singapore. This two hours session used Gallup's CliftonStrengths profiling tool alongside ontological coaching to help the managers learn a particular tool for coaching. Participants left with deeper self-awareness and specific coaching skills from the deliberate practice.

Context:
I was approached to run a session for a group of 20 leaders and managers from the Marketing team and the topic was on “Coaching Others using Strengths”. This session was aimed at using a Strengths-approach to provide Supervisors and managers with practical tips to better coach & develop direct reports towards improved performance. The three objectives were

1.      Understand the 3 Gallup Questions that contribute to Performance

2.     Evaluate whether team members assigned tasks compliment their Strengths

3.     Take simple actions or Ask simple questions to coach or enhance general engagement

Summary:
This CliftonStrengths coaching workshop was arranged as a follow up for leaders and managers in AIA who have gone through the CliftonStrengths workshop for the Marketing team in 2016 and interested to go deeper into specific application of CliftonStrengths for managers. The session was held in Singapore and delivered in Oct 2022.

This was a 2 hours coaching session focused on three specific applications. Based on the three objectives, we went deep into understanding Gallup’s research on employee engagement and turn that into specific check-in questions that managers can ask. We also go through a templated tool that I designed and introduced to help managers conduct work reviews and developmental conversations. The goal is to have conversations to help managers evaluate whether their direct reports feel engaged at work. We also went through some simple strengths-based coaching questions for developmental conversations and to strengthen engagement.
