CliftonStrengths Leadership Workshop - Nanyang Technological University SASD Management Team, Singapore

The Engagement:

On 30 June 2017, Victor delivered a full-day CliftonStrengths Leadership Workshop for the Management Team of the Student Academic Services Division (SASD) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), held on the NTU campus in Singapore. The session was designed as Day 1 of a two-day strategic planning programme — positioning CliftonStrengths as the foundation from which the team would approach their strategic planning conversations the following day.

The Context:

The partnership began when Deputy Director of Plans Office Gordon Lim reached out to Victor with a clear vision - to facilitate a leadership and team building retreat that would help the SASD Management Team discover the best of each other and leverage each team member's strengths towards greater effectiveness in strategic planning and collaboration.

The Approach:

Victor structured the day in two phases. The morning focused on building the strengths language: helping leaders learn their individual CliftonStrengths talent themes and facilitating conversations that deepened mutual understanding of each person's unique profile.

The afternoon shifted into team application: Unpacking the collective team strengths to understand team dynamics, exploring how individual themes shape working relationships and collaboration styles, and identifying the shifts needed for a more intentional strengths-based approach to leadership. The integration of CliftonStrengths into a strategic planning context created a natural bridge between self-awareness and organisational effectiveness.

Outcomes:

The leadership team left with deeper insights into how a strengths-based approach could be leveraged to improve both personal and team effectiveness, equipped with a shared strengths language to carry into their strategic planning sessions the following day.
