CliftonStrengths (StrengthsFinder) Leadership Workshop for NTU SASD Management Team
Context:
The partnership with NTU started when Deputy Director of Plans Office Gordon Lim reached out and wanted us to facilitate a leadership and team building retreat for the Management Team of SASD. He hoped the team could discover the best of each other and leverage each team member’s strengths towards increased effectiveness in strategic planning and collaboration.
Summary:
This was a full day CliftonStrengths (former Gallup StrengthsFinder) Leadership Workshop for the Student Academic Services Management team from Nanyang Technological University (NTU). The program was planned as the day 1 program of a 2 days strategic planning program, held in NTU campus in Singapore.
We first help the leaders to learn the strengths language and facilitated several conversations between each other. After that, we explored how to leverage strengths more effectively for collaboration, focusing on unpacking the team strengths to see the team dynamics. The leaders went deeper in understanding how their individual CliftonStrengths themes shape the way they work and relate to one another. We also explored the shifts that are needed for a more intentional strengths based approach to leadership. Majority of the participants gave excellent feedback about the enjoyable learning and time well spent. Looking forward to future opportunities to impact the rest of the staff as well as the undergraduates from NTU.
Outcomes of the session:
From the workshop, I gained better insights into how the Strengths Based Approach can be leveraged on to improve personal and team effectiveness. We enjoyed the workshop tremendously and this workshop has put us in good stead towards improved team effectiveness.
